GPPA Superfinale Winners in Irish Open

March 21st, 2008, 01:17
Today, day 1A of the Irish Open was played. Of the five GPPA Superfinale winners, two of them played today: Danny Ehrenberger and Ulrich Trautenberg. Unfortunately, they were both knocked out soon after the dinner break. Ulrich lost a classic coinflip with AK vs a medium pocket pair, while Danny made a move after several players had limped in and ran into pocket aces. Unlucky for them, and unlucky for the top three of the German Team Gnuf Special tournament series leaderboard who will get 6 % of the Superfinale winners' winnings.

Anyway, tomorrow day 1B is played, and then we keep our fingers crossed for the other three: Derya Apuhan, Harald Dohm, and Marc Dötsch. Harald cashed in Bregenz a few weeks ago, so we know he is in good shape.

I will come back with more reports from Dublin.

Good night.

Derya Apuhan was the only GPPA Superfinale winner to make it into day 2, and he did it with 20,300 in the chip stack.

However, after 1,5 hours of play during day 2, he got all his chips in as a clear favourite. With blinds 500/1,000, a guy raised to 3,000 and Apuhan reraised all-in for 16K with AK. The original raiser made a bad call with AJ, but caught a jack and eliminated Derya. Very unlucky for Derya who otherwise would have had an average stack.
